Let’s Build More Together

Suzie has worked and volunteered in the disability community since her undergrad days, including volunteering with people with HIV/AIDS. Suzie graduated with a double major in Psychology and Sociology from UC Davis. She went on to join AmeriCorps‘ National Civilian Community Corps for 2 years. She completed community service projects (first as a team member and then as a team leader) in a variety of regions throughout the United States.

Suzie then became a Project Manager at KaBOOM!, a non-profit which facilitates community built playgrounds. She coordinated the construction of 91 ADA compliant playgrounds throughout the US and Canada. While studying for her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at Colorado State University, Suzie was a puppy raiser with Guide Dogs for the Blind. Her puppy Atley chose a different career path and Suzie had him certified as a therapy dog. Atley joined Suzie in her school based Occupational Therapy positions for the first 5 years of her career. Together they provided animal assisted therapy to K-12th grade students in special education programs in the San Francisco and Denver areas.

Throughout Suzie’s life she has been a connector and passionate learner about the human experience. Her focus on functional mobility and the way people engage with their environments while participating in their daily activities and occupations sets her apart from other accessibility consultants. She is excited to use her unique perspective as an Occupational Therapist to create spaces that make everyone feel welcome and celebrated.
